How to Select a Gift For Your Sweet New Born
Happy Birthday my baby! You are age 0 today. What do you want for your Birthday? Crying should be the answer at this point of time. You may be wondering what kind of toys, how many toys you should give your baby. Some parents thought that new born baby usually sleeping all the time, what they need is only food and there is no opportunity for them to play toys. On the other side of the coin, other parents thought of feeding their baby with a lot of toys can help develop the baby’s brain since infancy. It’s likely that you hear conflicting views. So, which one do you agree with?
Both sides of this debate have valid points. A baby does indeed learn from the things she plays, and the more she is able to access, the more she will learn. Experts agree that babies need a variety of toys to enrich their lives and encourage learning. Besides educational and entertainment, toys must be safe for new born babies too. It is essential to know the type of the toys that suit for your baby.
During the first three months of infancy, babies spend most of their time eating and sleeping. Even though the infant can’t grasp objects with their own hand but they can still explore the object with their own eyes and ears near to their face. During this period of time, the best toys for newborns are those that designed to provide senses stimulation. For your baby, musical mobiles and other toys that hang above the crib are the best choices because baby spends most of the time sleeping.
The best traditional toys for babies are those that allow them to explore using their senses. Bright, vivid colors and contrasting patterns are easy for her to focus on and toys that make noise will thrill her at any age. Various textures and toys with easy to operate buttons or knobs are great for encouraging development in newborns. Babies react to shadows, bright and high contrast colors, black and white, or green and red combinations. These are the best color for babies’ toys such as stuffed or plush toys. These patterned toys help with eye development and also help to stimulate the babies mind.
For older babies, simple wooden puzzles are great toys. Puzzles with knobs on the pieces allow babies to grab them easily and many of these puzzles help to teach shapes and colors.
Rattles are classic toys that are still favorites for infants. Rattles with bold colors and an easy to grip handle help all baby age between 3 to 6 month to learn how to hold things in her hand, you can even shake it gently along with music to improve her learning.
Babies begin teething around 3 to 4 months of age, you can provide your new born with teething toys. Many teething toys are attached together with rattling pieces and several of shapes. You must make sure that there is no small parts which could cause choking hazards when she puts toys into her mouth.
Soft, cuddly dolls are ideal toys for infants as well. Choose safe dolls designed for children under a year old. Soft toys that squeak when you squeeze them will delight babies and dangly plastic toys like key rings will fascinate them. Activity gyms that allow babies to lay underneath them and play are also good choices.
As your newborn grows, she will learn to move her arms and legs. She will begin to explore her world with the help of her sense of touch. During the months of discovery, it is important to provide your baby with a variety of age-appropriate learning toys to promote healthy growth and development.
There are many more toys for infants and babies available for selection. You won’t go wrong if you choose a simple, developmental toy for your baby. Before you start purchasing, you must go through the guideline as mentioned as above.
Wooden toys for babies are one way to make sure that your child does not have issues with small parts. With wooden toys, you also know that they will be durable; unlike plastic toys, they will not splinter or break into smaller parts. When you are looking for infant toys, one of the best toys you can start out which are wooden blocks. Far from being old fashioned or simple, wooden blocks games facilitate all sorts of developmental for baby. You'll find that your child is practicing hand-eye coordination as well as building up fine motor control when he or she builds up the blocks. You also foster a sense of creativity when you buy your baby a set of blocks. Some blocks even come with painted letter designs, allowing your child to become familiar with the alphabet and with the written language.
Large bulky wooden puzzle pieces with smooth surface are the best choice because it will be a lot harder to lose ad will not frustrate your child compare to small and fragile cardboard puzzles. This is an excellent way to begin working with a child when it comes to logical thinking and problem solving skills. Every child loves the end result of a finished puzzle and you can be sure that your baby will enjoy having you to help her put the puzzles together.
When looking for educational baby toys, also take a look at soft toys which is in variety of colors. Babies always pay attention to colors and movements. They are able to identify the color and being taught to deal with color in different sizes. Soft toys are usually a good idea for babies because they can't hurt themselves with them. Your baby will be able to play as rough as they please without the risk of having those toys break. Similarly, you can find soft toys that your child can build with, or that she can stack. Like the wooden toys mentioned above, she will be learning fine motor control and in the case of the soft toys, there will be less chance that she will injure herself on sharp edges.

Baby Language
Most parents wish that their baby would grow up without crying. But remember that without crying your baby will not be able to communicate anything with you.Accept the fact that crying is a way of developing the baby language. Especially, in the first six months, babies cry to communicate their needs. As a parent, you cannot always tell, but many mothers in due course will be able to recognize their baby's needs from the type of cry.
The most common reason for babies to cry is hunger. But there are many more common reasons for them to cry too. If your baby cries after a feed, do not jump to the conclusion that the feed was inadequate; instead look for probable reasons other than hunger. Babies cry to express their needs as they cannot communicate otherwise. Given below are the various reasons for which a child/baby cries. As a parent it is important to comprehend the baby language i.e. the reason of cry.
Some common reasons are:
Hunger: In the early part of their lives, babies may need to be fed at short intervals, sometimes in even less than two hours. Frequent feeding will help and over time your baby will space out his/her feeds.
Thirst: Usually not seen in breast-fed babies, but can happen to bottle fed babies, more so in summer.
Diaper-change: If the diapers are left on too long, it can cause painful and uncomfortable rashes. Frequent changing of diapers can prevent these troubles.
Too hot, too cold: Since babies are unable to change their clothes or uncover themselves on their own, they will cry to let you know that they are uncomfortable. The proper way is to feel your baby's body. If it feels cool, add a blanket. If he/she is sweaty or hot, remove a layer of clothing.
Uncomfortable clothes or positioning: Check to see if there is anything poking your baby like a price tag or a piece of Velcro. Change his/her clothes or give him/her some time being naked or swaddled in a warm blanket. Also, change his/her position of sleep. If he/she is lying on the back put him/her on his/her back.
Bowel movements: Some babies will cry, scream and get pink in the face just before passing urine or bowel movement. Once they are done they will be okay.
Anxiety and fear: Sudden movements and loud noises can trigger crying. Be gentle with your baby.
Boredom: Babies who are bored cry to get your attention. Picking up your baby and interacting with him/her can put a quick end to the crying spell.
Tiredness: Babies always don't know that they need to sleep when they're tired. It's your job to calm them down for naptime, not stimulate them.
Sometimes you and your baby can get into a crying cycle. When babies cry, you get anxious and start panicking. Your baby senses this, feels uncomfortable and cries even more. If you find yourself getting into these cycles, talk to your doctor.A sick baby will cry, but will also have other symptoms of illness like runny nose, fever, tugging the ear or diarrhea. Generally a healthy baby will have a strong, loud cry. If your baby's cry becomes weak, contact your doctor right away.
Crying is almost synonymous to baby language. A child primarily expresses it's emotions by crying, making sounds, laughing etc. In the initial stages, it is no cakewalk for a parent to comprehend their child's needs. But with passage of time, the message is communicated effectively and it is an important step in bonding between a parent and child.

How to Make Your Baby Happy
9 ways to optimize your baby’s brain
All parents have the responsibility to teach their children. Teaching can start as early as pregnancy. Here are some tips on how to optimize your baby's brain. This is a translation of Indonesian Parenting magazine.
Peek a boo
How to play: Cover your face with a blanket and ask your baby, “where is mommy?” Don’t lower the blanket, wait until your baby try to remove the blanket him/her self. If he/she succeed then say, “Here is mommy”
Why baby love it: finding you – someone who is close and loved by your baby – is a nice surprise. This won’t be the first and last time you play this game with your baby. The funny faces you make when your baby removes the blanket might be responsible for it, and your baby will try to imitate you.
What is taught: the skill to manipulate. This game will teach your baby that if he/she acts others will react. For example, laughing when he/she makes funny faces. He/she will learn that by removing the blanket he/she can control what he/she sees.
When to start playing: 6 – 9 months, when the baby already learns motoric skill.
Hi baby, hi baby!
How to play: stand in one side of the box and call his/her name until he/she moves his/her head toward your voice. Then move to the other side and call his/her name again. Do this until he/she looks at you.
Why baby love it: your voice is the most beautiful and nicest voice that he/she ever hears. Hearing you calling his/her name makes him/her really happy.
What is taught: the skill to concentrate. Your baby has to process your voice and the brain will have to learn to combine hearing and seeing which will help your baby to learn how to concentrate. It will help babies to learn to localize something within its environment by hearing from a close.
When to play: from birth until 6 months, when the baby’s sight is still fuzzy and he/she won’t use his/her eyes to follow your voice.
Baby crawl race
How to play: use pillows, sheets, blankets and door mat to build various track for your baby to crawl.
Why baby love it: When the usual playing ground becomes a big and challenging play ground it gives your baby chance to have endless fun.
What is taught: motivation. As soon as they are in the tunnel and climbing the steeps, your baby will feel motivated to know how they get into the tunnel and how to get out of it, thus will make them exercise their physics and cognitive thinking.
When to play: from 8 months, when your baby start to crawl and lift his/her body.

A Father's Story
A friend gave me this story. For parents out there once you read this story you will be more grateful to have your children and love them even more. Please take sometime to read it as you will learn something from it. A father just came home from work (let's just called him Peter). He has jut put his bag on the table and sat on the couch when his daughter came to him. "Father, father", Rita said. "What's the matter Rita?". "Father I want to ask you something", Rita replied. "What do you want to ask dear?". "Father, are you tired?". "Of course I am tired darling, after working for almost 10 hours". "I just want to ask you this, how much does your company pay you?". "Why do you ask me that? Well if you really want to know, the company pays me four hundred rupiahs a day". "Okay, if the company pays you four thousand rupiahs a day and you work ten hours, so that means you are paid forty thousands an hour". "Yes that's right now let father take a shower first. I am really tired". "But father I want to lend some money from you, because I need it for something. Please lend me father". Peter said with a high voice, "What do you need the money for. I will lend you the money later, but now I want to take shower. Please don't say a word again". Peter wendt and took the shower. Then he realized that he has made his daughter sad, yelling at her like that. So after taking the shower, he went to Rita's room and found her crying. "Why are you crying Rita? What is so important with the money that you can't wait until tomorrow?". "I want to play snake with you for an hour. Because mother said that your time is really priceless then I want to pay you to play with me. But because I only have fifteen thousand so I'm twenty five thousand short. That's why I want to lend it from you and I will pay you back after I get my next month's month wage". Hearing his daughter's explanation, Peter felt really guilty, he held his daughter really tight and said, "You won't have to pay me to play with you. Just ask for it, I will play with you all the time you want". So get the moral of the story? Cherish all your beloved ones today as if tomorrow they will be gone.

How to Help Your Child to Behave Well
'I don't know why Mummy is always shouting at me. I don’t think I am being bad, but she shouts at me anyway. I try to help but that gets me shouted at as well.'
Could this be your child? Does it feel like all you do is yell at her? Life does not have to be like this. Spend a few minutes reading this article and find out how you could transform your life and help your child to become more responsible and self confident.
It is easy to get into certain habits of behavior - often without knowing it. For instance, when your child leaves the table without putting her plates over to the sink what do you do? Do you remind her to take the plates over or do you shout that she never remembers to do this one simple thing? What about the times she does remember, are you as quick to praise her as you are to shout at her?
It’s a very simple idea, but very true nevertheless - using positive praise can improve your life. It really can transform your home life. Try this for a week or two and you will see a change in your child’s attitude, and probably your own too!
You can start today. Try to notice when your child behaves well and comment on how good she is doing. Don’t wait for some big event, tidying her room or coming when you call are both opportunities for praise. It is important to keep praising her good behavior whenever you get the chance.
Encourage your child to continue to be well behaved by noticing when she is behaving well and praising her. Remarking on her good behavior in front of other people reinforces how pleased you are with her.
Your child wants you to be interested in her and will try to behave better to get this good attention.
Use positive praise to target any bad habits too. Often bad behavior is 'rewarded' with a parent's attention, being shouted at is better than being ignored! When your child behaves in a way that you dislike do not give her any attention, try turning away from her and ignoring the behavior. Return to praising any good behavior as soon as you can.
Changing your own behavior so that you notice your child being good will encourage her to try to act better too. It is important to keep up the positive praise.
Too much criticism is bad for your child’s self esteem. And bad on your nerves!
The key to making this work is to keep up the positive praise when it is appropriate, do not praise if it is not deserved. Having a well behaved child can be as easy as changing your own behavior. Be sure to try this today.
Please note this works the same for both boys and girls, but it is easier to the child as her throughout this article rather than the more awkward ‘him/her’.
