Benefits Of Children Getting Enough Sleep

by: Kerry Rooney

Everyone knows sleeping is very important, and yet it’s among the initial things we take off our ‘to do’ checklist. It's good to reevaluate making sleep a priority since it affects a great number of aspects of your life. Additionally it's good to lead by example for your children. A child getting the right amount of rest is important for healthy growth.

So let’s discuss exactly why it's very important for you to sleep properly. Not sleeping enough can lead you to put on weight. So if you haven’t been getting enough sleep recently that could be the reason why you've put on those extra pounds. UCLA researchers have found that not getting enough sleep lowers nighttime levels of ghrelin, which isa hormone involved with appetite control. These levels can rebound during the day, which means you may become hungrier. Getting more sleep is the simplest diet program I've ever encountered.

As moms we'd like all the mental faculties we can get and getting a proper amount of sleep does just that. When you don’t get enough sleep proteins increase in your head, that's where you get that fuzzy feeling.

So how does lack of sleep affect your children, well much the in the same manner it does you. Children who don’t get enough sleep are more inclined to have weight issues. A Harvard medical study found that toddlers who slept less than twelve hours a day were twice as more likely overweight by age 3.

Children who receive the appropriate amount of rest are more happy and have sharper minds. Kids who do not get enough sleep have a more difficult time focusing, which makes it harder for them to learn. Allow your children to sleep in on the weekends. This can help them catch up on much needed sleep.

And children who get the proper rest have less mishaps. Because kids who are well rested once again concentrate better and are not as likely to have those thoughtless silly accidents.

Having the proper sleep is important. So start taking measures today to create sleeping habits that enable you and your children to get all the sleep you need to live healthy and happy lives.
