Dads And Newborns

by: Kerry Rooney

We often speak about mom and child, and occasionally leave dad out of the picture. But times have changed and fathers are just as active in their baby’s lives. Decades ago you would have never heard of a father being at a baby shower, but now men and women attend showers. There are lots of opportunities for fathers to nurture their newborns.

Fathers will need to become active in baby’s feeding occasions. Any mom can inform you that feeding the infant is really a special bonding time and father needs to be involved. If you're formula feeding your child, then dad should be feeding the infant as often as he can. If mother is breast-feeding daddy can still be involved. Father can bring infant to mother, and infant is completed eating then father can burp the child. Feeding becomes a bonding time for all three.

When baby is in the womb he hears voices. So his father’s voice is familiar to him and diaper changes are a great time to talk to your baby. Your voice will be comforting and make diaper changes even more enjoyable. Talk about anything and everything. Your baby is learning his communication skills from your speech patterns. In a few months your baby’s communication skills will have grown so much that he will start cooing and babbling back at you.

If you ask any parent 1 of their favorite times is rocking the child to sleep. It is one your baby’s preferred times as well. His new world is big and scary and he feels secure in your arms. Several parents don’t understand that holding their babies often those initial handful of months is extremely excellent for the baby. It makes him feel safe and safe. So father’s rock your small one’s to rest as frequently as you are able to.

It is okay for you to pick up your baby when it cries. Crying is the only way your baby can communicate right now, and soon you will be able to tell what he wants by the way he is crying. Don’t’ think that this is only a mothers gift, as fathers you also have natural instincts concerning your newborn as well. The obvious reasons a baby cries is because he is hungry or needs his diaper changed. But another reason baby cries is because of over stimulation. Your baby is processing new information and learning new things each day, so it tends to make sense they may possibly be over stimulated occasionally. So when child cries because of this, it is the ideal time for you to take and comfort him. You are letting your child know that you simplyt are there for him no matter what.

It is important that you bond with your baby just like mom. The bonds that you develop now will help you to know him in decades to come. A little one wants to really feel the love and comfort of both parents. Taking the time to bond now is helping your little one to have a well-balanced life.

We said earlier that talking to your baby whilst changing his diaper is a good approach to aid his communication abilities and growth. But did you know the act of changing your little ones diaper is bonding with your child. Researchers have found that the more daddy changes diapers the more infant is attached to him. This is because the baby is interacting with you on a normal basis and getting to understand you. You are building a bond which will develop a lifetime should you continue to have an active component of your baby’s life.
