Teething is a common issue that newly born infants encounter in the course of their entry to the new world. Some babies go through the normal process of adapting to the new environment and the start of growth of their teeth may be very much uncomfortable, causing pain and at times fever for the growth of infant teeth. Unlike for adults, this occurrence is quite painful and will bring various illnesses that range from fever to some other forms of illnesses that may alarm parents at times. Other known illnesses include diarrhea and excessive crying in the process, something that would create panic in parents especially if they are unable to determine the cause of the overall discomfort that the infant has.
Painful as it may seem, this is a stage that most babies will go through. Determining and identifying such stages may not be immediately diagnosed in the sense that parents would often panic and grope their way to looking at the more urgent health risks such as infections and fever related causes. While teething may be considered a minimal health risk issue, the other connected causes of its occurrence are what most parents should watch out for. They should also put into consideration that babies are that sensitive and handling these expected occurrences is not as tolerable compared to the adapted children or adults whom have already gone through this stage.
The process of teething is called cutting teeth. Usually, these teething events would come out in pairs. While there are some babies who bear teeth upon birth, there are some who have to wait a certain number of months before they can actually experience this painful happening. As far as their genders are concerned, it is believed that milk teeth tend to emerge sooner in females babies than their male counterparts. These patterns are usually hereditary in nature and hence would be easy to figure out as far as the need to trace of how teething would occur in families. The manner on how the teeth of infants appear is in now way related to their genes. These have no particular pattern and come out as expected. The gums will surely bear the brunt of the pain, sort of like slicing upwards this section, thus the cause for the pain and discomfort that babies experience.
Teething would usually point towards itchiness of sorts of the teeth, thus the need to find some edible material to chew on. Thus the presence of such baby accessories in the form of a teether are resorted to help ease the discomfort that babies would usually experience in these stages. But the type of teether that is used should be open to evaluation first, especially in terms of size. Choking hazards may occur if these are not given the right monitoring and could go from bad to worse. For worst cases, the best bet is to seek help from pediatricians or dentists for medical support. Ideally, they would prescribe some sort of ointment or just plain toothpaste to help sooth the pain that the infant’s gums are experiencing.
One of the hardest parts of taking care of babies is that they are too delicate and fragile, meaning that the slightest miscalculation towards baby care may lead to something disastrous. Feeding babies would normally get a person to think of simple breast feeding or milk bottles but it will all come to a point where an infant will have to learn to eat solid food. This is where the fun part begins, how to get the baby to eat the solid foods which they have no knowledge whatsoever.
One thing to consider is that outside the shape and color of the solid food we offer these babies, they have no idea of how or what it would taste like. They are still clueless in their infancy stage and using these available points for consideration would be the only way to help educate them. Here are some good tips and trick to consider, especially if you are trying to feed that first born child.

Children And Self-Expression
There is nothing more important to childhood development than self-expression. A child must be able to express what he or she wants and how he or she feels with freedom and safety. Children that do not grow up in an environment of respect, love, and compassion often find difficulty opening up to others as they grow up and often experience many different mental and emotional pitfalls. It’s no secret that allowing your child to express his or her feelings, emotions, thoughts, and creativity in a safe environment is one of the most beneficial parts to raising a child.
Artistic Expression
One of the best ways that kids express themselves is through artistic means. Painting, finger-painting, drawing, sketching, coloring, and writing all have been proven to provide a solid outlet for many of the strong emotions that children deal with. Many psychologists and therapists find stunning information about a child within the drawings or artwork of that child, making creativity one of the most enlightening and though-provoking experiences of a child’s life.
Allowing a child to paint or draw with freedom and without boundaries is a critical component to childhood development because it opens the mind and frees the spirit. Within a few moments of coloring or drawing seemingly unrelated objects or shapes on a page, a child can form thoughts and ideas that may be surprising to the parent. This process is incredibly important in the development of communication skills, emotional skills, and psychological awareness.
Playful Expression
Another great way to help kids express themselves is through playful expression. Allowing children to safely and securely play with one another, whether through sports or other recreational pursuits, is a great way to help teach cooperation, relationship skills, and respect for others. By setting up reasonable boundaries and rules for playtime, a parent can safely guide their children through the motions of responsible play and activity without interfering with their development.
There are many great board games and interactive games to play with children that enhance the creative energy and create positive influences. Parking the child in front of the television is a poor choice for a number of reasons, the least of which is that television is a one-way medium and does not encourage any creative or critical thinking on behalf of the child. If television is a must, the parent should watch television with the child so as to provide some sort of platform for genuine interaction.
Building Expression
A final example of a great way to promote self-expression in children is through the building of objects. Dollhouses, model cars, and other objects that require construction are great ways to promote natural progression and creativity within a certain set of boundaries. As the child learns to follow the instructions for putting together the dollhouse or model car, he or she becomes aware of the role of instructions and guidelines and is able to employ creative techniques to produce the end result.
Creativity through the guidelines of building an object, such as a dollhouse, is an important facet of life for children to learn, as many of the real-life situations they will find themselves in will call upon the skills learned through early childhood development.

Tips For Dads To Get A Good Nights Sleep, Too!
To help your child prepare both mentally and physically for dream time, one first step is to have a regular relaxing bedtime routine or ritual. You might wish to try a warm bath followed by a bedtime story or maybe a nighttime meditation that you read to your child which can help him relax and get ready for slumber time. It is important to give your child plenty of time for his bedtime ritual. This way you both avoid feeling rushed, anxious or stressed. Try to make your child's personal bedtime ritual as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Not only will this help your little one sleep easier, it will be a much more pleasant experience for you as well.
Many natural therapies have been shown to calm and relax children.
Touch can be a soothing tool. It is necessary to be a professional massage therapist in order to provide your child with the soothing strokes they need. By providing a nurturing massage you will ease sore muscles and encourage relaxation. For massage you can use any natural oil. You might try grapeseed oil or olive oil. Both of these choices are safe to be ingested if your little one touches their mouth.
You may also wish to try a sleep sachet. You can create a relaxing sachet by placing a half cup full of chamomile flowers, lavender flowers, lemon balm and rosebuds inside a small cloth and tie closed. Then place this sachet inside your child's pillowcase just before bedtime.
For years parents have tried a cup of warmed milk to soothe their child at bedtime, but many have found that a cup of sweetened chamomile tea can be much more effective and really do the trick.
A warm bath with a couple drops of lavender oil has soothing and calming effects (it is not recommended that you use essential oils with children under 3 months of age. If you are unsure if you should use essential oils, consult your child's physician.
Music which is soothing can also aid in your child's relaxation and prepare for sleep. Ask your child to help select their favorite bedtime music. This way they'll feel comfortable and will have played a valuable role in their own bedtime ritual.

Introducing Kid Play Food to Your Kids
Parents are often concerned about introducing the concept of kid play food to their children especially if their kids are boys. The usual idea is that kid play food may be just for girls. This may not necessarily be the case. A lot of certified chefs are males and they may have started with just their own set of kid play food. In most cases too, kid play food can effectively teach kids healthy eating habits.
In introducing kid play food to your kids, it is important to take a close look at each food item in a kid play food set. Try to pick kid play food items that have gender neutral colors. You can also go for a set with various appliances and utensils like ovens and grills just to make sure that you have a “manly” set of kid play food appliances. As for kid play food design, it would help your kids if you picked items that are simple in design and easy to recognize.
If you are a parent with specific food or eating habit rules and principles, then you should also consider weeding out kid play food items that go against your beliefs. Vegans for example can take out all the meat items. Whether you are a vegan or not however, it is also a good idea to take out all the junk food items or items that may imply eating too much sugar and preservatives. These items can include packs of junk food, pies, hard candies, and cola bottles.
You can encourage kids to become more interested in their kid play food and on food and health in general by bringing your kids to the grocery as you shop for food. It is also a good idea to let your kids help around in the kitchen when you prepare and cook food. Your little boys can be tutored by the father of the house to remove all traces of role stereotypes.
Teach your kids how to play with kid play food by participating. Line up some stuffed toys or have the toys sit on chairs around a table. Help your kid prepare a pretend meal and serve the meal to the stuffed guests. It is suggested that you maintain constant communication with your child as you prepare the pretend meal. Ask her what ingredients are in the meal she is cooking and why these ingredients are good for people to eat. Make “yum-yum” sounds as you feed each stuffed guest.

Teaching Children Independence and Responsibility
Do you remember that phase in your child's life when all you heard was "I want to do it!"? You're in a hurry, and you want to help your child get dressed, but your two or three year old will have no part of that. You must wait for 15 minutes while she masters the socks and shoes. Your helpful child, at this age, wants to take out the trash, put away the silverware, bake cookies, and clean the bathroom. What on Earth happens to this independent child?
Not all children, but many, shift into a new phase. Picking up their toys is a dreadful task. Playing is so much more important than doing homework. Getting them to hang up their coat or make their bed is like pulling their two front teeth. In the teenage years, you get another glimpse of independence, but it's not exactly in the areas you might want. Teenagers insist they have all their academics, social relationships, and life in general, under control. You may think differently, but who are you? To a teenager, you're just an old fashioned and unintelligent parent.
Regardless of what children may want or think they need, parents have a job to teach responsibility and independence. It is a lifelong commitment that isn't always so easy, but here are some tips to keep you on track.
Encourage Independence by Refusing to Step In
When your child reaches an age to take on an age-appropriate activity, show your child how to do it, then let go and let your child struggle. It can be hard to watch children fight with their shoelaces, or stumble over their words in a new friendship, but it is in these moments that children are learning. The joy they feel when they gain a little more independence can be very rewarding, and a strong motivator to try new tasks in the future.
Believe in Your Child
Children need to know you believe in them. Encourage your children with positive words such as, "You are a smart girl. You can figure this out." Teach your children to think positively about themselves by modeling this behavior in yourself. The Little Blue Engine didn't give up and the reward was confidence. Confidence builds on itself, and your child will gain greater self esteem when you encourage independence and responsibility.
Build in Life Skills through Routines
Routines give your child practice and repetition. If, for instance, the after school routine includes putting away the lunch box and coat, having a snack, and doing homework, your child learns responsibility as a way of life. If you want your child to have good personal grooming skills, build brushing hair and teeth, and washing face into a morning and bedtime routine. When a child does the same thing over and over, he learns independence without even thinking about it.
Let Children Fall Down and Experience the Consequences
Resist the urge to be a helicopter parent and hover over your child. Life is full of opportunities to succeed and make mistakes. The lesson is reinforced and learning takes place when children are allowed to make mistakes. If your child makes a bad choice, let him experience the natural or imposed consequences. A "D" or an "F" on an exam sends a very clear message that the child needs to study harder. The effect is not the same when you are hounding your child to study so she doesn't fail. When your child makes the choice to extend his curfew by an hour, he loses the privilege of going out the next weekend. Guaranteed he will think twice before staying out late the next time.
Coach your Children towards Independence and Responsibility
When your child is faced with a future or past decision, ask a lot of open ended questions that encourage your child to think for himself. "What do you think you should say to your friend?" "What could you have done differently in this situation?" Giving advice teaches your children what you want and what you think is best. Coaching your children supports them in developing good decision making skills, and honoring what is best for them. It's okay if they don't make the best choice. Live and learn.
The goal in raising children is not to protect them from pain or undesirable circumstances, but to equip them with what they need to be responsible, independent and resilient adults.

Babysitter Checklist - Don't Leave Home Without One
When you leave your kids with a babysitter do you genuinely enjoy your time away?
Maybe I should rephrase that question. When was the last time you actually took some time for your partner and yourself by utilizing the services of a paid babysitter whom you trusted and the kids loved?
Or...are you simply scared to leave your kids with a sitter? (That's okay. It IS scary the first time.)
You already know that regular, quality time away from the responsibilities of parenting can help you be a better parent. But honestly, you'll need peace of mind about your children's care if you are going to truly refresh yourself while you're away.
This is simpler than you think. You can use readily available tools to accomplish this with ease. The first tool you'll want to take advantage of is a babysitter checklist.
A babysitter checklist can ensure peace of mind by helping you keep track of what's most important. For example...
-- Do you worry that your children won't be properly cared for while you're out for the evening? Then use your babysitter checklist to detail what activities, what foods and what schedule you want for your children during that time period. A bonus of this approach is that both babysitter and children will be kept busy while you're away.
-- Do you worry about safety issues while you're gone for a few hours? Put those important numbers such as fire, emergency help, and poison control directly on your babysitter checklist. Always leave a phone number where you can personally be reached. If you have specific safety routines in your home, detail all such information on your checklist and go over it with your babysitter before leaving for the evening.
-- Keep any requests on your checklist specific to avoid misinterpretation. Don't say that movies are okay for the kids to watch...write down exactly which movies are acceptable to you. The same goes for TV programs and music choices, too.
You will still need to find a babysitter you can trust. I have always found that a personal recommendation is best when it comes to finding a new sitter. Once you've located a new sitter, have a 'test sit' so everyone can get acquainted. You might want to consider hiring your new babysitter to care for your children while you are in another area of your home. Again, use your babysitter checklist to give as detailed instructions as you like, so that your new babysitter knows EXACTLY what is expected of him or her.
One more thing...pay your babysitter well. You are asking someone to care for your most precious treasures and, let's face it, quality costs. If money is an issue for you then be creative with your time away and reduce your costs on that end as opposed to trying to cut your babysitter's salary.
Coordinating and organizing your time away from your children can make such events very valuable for both you and your family. Take the time to find the right sitter and use a simple babysitter checklist to make everyone feel comfortable and secure.

The Most Common Parenting Mistake Of All
Becoming a parent, especially for the first time, is an exciting but scary experience. You'll be entering a whole new world where different rules apply, and no matter how prepared you think you are, there's usually little you've experienced before which you can draw on when making the choices and snap decisions that will become a major part of your life once the little one arrives.
It's for this reason that there's an abundance of parenting advice available which you can use to inform your decisions. There are print magazines packed with useful advice, web sites with tons of articles to peruse, not to mention the well meaning but sometimes irritating advice and opinions of family and friends. Despite all this information being available, most parents are terrified that they're somehow not up to the job and will do it wrong, and herein lies the most common parenting mistake of all: not trusting in your own judgment and instincts.
However intimidating the prospect is of having ultimate responsibility for the nurture of a new and precious life, you should be in no doubt that you have exactly the skills and capabilities you'll need over the coming years.
Think about it. As human beings, we're all parenting specialists. In evolutionary and genetic terms, our whole existence is geared towards producing and nurturing offspring, and over the millions of years that the human species has been developing we've become generally incredibly good at it. You only need to watch a mother and child together to know that however difficult the process may seem, bringing up a child is the most natural thing in the world, and something for which each and every parent to be has the necessary skills to make a success of it if they make it their number one focus.
Of course, this doesn't mean that you should ignore all advice. After all, the experience handed down from generation to generation is absolutely vital and is how civilization developed in the first place. Not one of us has all the answers, we all need input from others in all kinds of situations.
But trust in your own capabilities as a parent above all else, and trust in your own ability to make the best of all the advice and support that's out there. That way you'll definitely be the best parent your child could ever have.

How do you feel when your boss lectures you about something that you did or suggested and ends his talk with, "I own this company, I've been in this business longer than you, and I sign your paycheck. I don't care how good of an idea you think you have just do what I say and keep your ideas to yourself!"? I'm sure you don't feel too good, you are not motivated from such talk and it doesn't build in you a sense of loyalty to the company.
If this is true for you, an adult who is supposed to have some control over your emotions, just imagine how ineffective such lectures are to transmit your values and to convince children of your views.
How then, you might ask, can you fulfill your parental obligation to pass on your values, life's lessons that you learnt the hard way, and prepare them for life without lecturing them? The answer is to tell stories and personal anecdotes that show the values that you feel are important for your children to learn. Story telling is the most pleasant, gentle, and effective way to get your message across.
Here a few tips on how I do this with my children:
*I wait for a time when a few of the older children are just sitting around listening to music, doing homework, or noshing (especially chocolate).
*I lean on a wall in the living room (to be as informal as possible) and say, "Do you want to hear what happened to me today?" (I don't wait for an answer) or "I heard the most unbelievable story today..."
* I never start by saying, "I heard this story about honesty today." I'm afraid if I would start like that they would shut off their ears thinking, "Oh no. Here comes another "goodie-goodie" lecture." I just give a general introduction and jump right into the story.
* Obviously, I also don't end off with a statement like, "and therefore I expect you ....". I just say, "I was so impressed with his courage or his honesty. I don't know how he did it but I wish I would be so strong"
Try it and you'll know that you are successful when, at a later time (sometimes even years later), your children live with those values and even quote you the stories that you told them.

Babies And Napping
Naptime is a blessing for you and your baby. Here are some tips on how to make this important time as beneficial as possible for you both.
Why Should Babies Nap?
Naps are not just important for their restorative value, although that is their most obvious benefit. Children’s sleep expert Elizabeth Pantley describes some of the other advantages to napping:
• Adequate sleep is important in brain development. Some research has shown that daytime napping may help move new information into a more permanent place in a child’s memory.
• Napping can affect nighttime sleep. A child who needs a nap but does not get one can become overtired and have trouble falling asleep at night.
• Studies have shown that children who nap have longer attention spans and are less fussy than those who do not nap.
• A child’s biology dictates that a nap is necessary after midday, when energy levels tend to drop. (Adults feel the same way, but sleep is not usually an option for them.)
• Sleep releases stress-fighting hormones.
• Napping can help a child catch up on sleep if their previous night’s sleep was disrupted.
When Should Babies Nap?
The answer to this question varies according to the age of the baby. Newborns, easily overwhelmed by their new surroundings, tend to nap frequently. They often have catnaps throughout the day, with a couple of longer naps in the morning and afternoon. Between three and six months, babies settle into a routine of morning and afternoon naps. This age presents the ideal opportunity for you to establish a nap routine that works with your baby’s biological signals for rest.
Young babies between the ages of three and six months generally have one morning nap of about an hour, and one afternoon nap of slightly longer duration, usually closer to two hours in length. Some babies are more comfortable with three shorter naps of about 45 minutes each. The number of naps is not as important as the total amount of sleep and the general disposition of your baby: if Baby is cranky, chances are she is not getting enough sleep.
Morning and afternoon naps continue throughout the first year. Between one and two years of age, most children can go without a morning nap, but still need an afternoon nap. The afternoon nap typically continues until about the age of four.
As for the exact time a baby should nap, that is mostly Baby’s decision. Some sleep experts advise that when trying to establish a nap schedule, you plan to put Baby down about two hours after she wakes in the morning and again after a midday meal. Babies who require a third nap usually take it in the early evening.
Most babies indicate they are ready for a nap through a variety of signals, discussed later in this article. If you try to put a baby down when he is not tired, chances are pretty slim that he’ll fall asleep. Heed Baby’s signs and try to work with his natural sleep cycles and you’ll find a good basis for a nap routine.
How Long Should Naps Be?
Sleep is a critical component of babies’ mental and physical development so it is important that they get enough of it. Babies will usually become tired on their own and will sleep when they need to, but some parents like to create a schedule. Do what works best for you – let Baby dictate sleep time or set a schedule. The key is to make sure that your baby gets the sleep she needs.
The amount of naptime required decreases as a baby gets older. At four months, a baby needs about 4 to 6 hours of naptime. At six months, babies tend to nap a little less, needing about 3 to 4 hours. By his first birthday, Baby needs about 2 to 3 hours of naptime and he may get it from one nap or two. Once she is into her toddler years, your little one will need only one nap of about 1 to 2 hours.
Sleep Signs – Knowing When Baby is Ready for a Nap
Learning your baby’s sleep signs is extremely important. If you do not recognize them or choose to ignore them, the “sleep window” will close and you’ll end up with a cranky, overtired baby who cannot fall asleep.
Signs to look for include:
• rubbing eyes
• yawning
• slowing down and quieting down
• fussiness
• thumb sucking or reaching for a pacifier or sleep toy
• wanting to nurse or have a bottle
In an ideal world, when Baby is ready to sleep, you would be able to put her down and let her fall asleep. For some parents, this does actually happen. For the unlucky ones it does not. Depending on the sleep habits of your baby, you may want to establish a nap routine that resembles, but is not exactly the same as, your nighttime routine. You might read a short book, play some soft music, or rock the baby to sleep. If your baby seems ready to drop as soon as his head hits the mattress, skip the routine and just put him down. You might be pleasantly surprised by his ability to drift off by himself.
When Baby Won’t Nap
There are a variety of reasons why a baby won’t nap. If a baby is rested and getting up earlier than you prefer, there is little you can do. If you feel that your baby is not getting the rest she needs, you may need to change your routine.
Often, resistance to naps comes when babies are overtired. Make sure to heed your baby’s sleep signs, as discussed above, and get her to bed when she is starting to act tired.
If your baby wakes early and is in need of more rest, try getting him to go back to sleep. Depending on your philosophy about babies and sleep, you can rock him or just gently pat him on the back and let him fall back to sleep on his own.
Make sure Baby’s sleep environment is conducive to sleep. A dark and slightly cool room is best.
Older babies may be waking early simply because they do not need as many naps as you are giving them. Try dropping a nap and see if that helps.

They based the review on facts, and they even give you very useful info such as how many players are playing on the site at peak times, the software they are using, customer support and the bonuses offered there.
Now, for those of you from US, you probably already knew that a new gambling bill have been passed on the 30th of September and as the result of this new rule, top poker online games like "Party Poker" now no longer accept players from the US to play real money. But not to worry, because Internet Poker Sites has done their homework, therefore they recommend the following sites for US players: Bodog, Absolute Poker. The reason why these sites are recommended is because they have lots of ways of depositing money such as nucharge, Instant Check/echecks, Credit Cards, ePassporte, Wire Trf, Western Union, Click2pay and eWalletXpress and other ways. For the complete reference please go to US Poker Sites.
Now which US Casinos still accept US Players, and what is the best way to deposit your money? To find the answer you can go to US Online Casino. There are several ways to deposit your money instantly. Here are the list of various ways for you to do it, choose what is best for your needs:
- NUcharge, allowed you to sign up and deposit within a matter of minutes using credit cards. This is the best part, some online casinos like Bodog Casino now accept NUcharge as a method of payment. As you all know NUcharge is an online phone card which you can refill using your credit card. The amount of your phone card will be deducted as you play online casino.
- eWalletXpress, this methode is the same as an ewallet just like neteller.
- click2pay, this is an ewallet similar like neteller, but currently not accepting any new USA Customers.
- epassporte, this is also another type of neteller, but the use of this payment method is limited for poker sites only.
- EcoCard, this is a pre-paid debit card that is known to be working very well.
- Wire Transfer, the most common way to do it is to go to your bank and wire the money directly to the casino where you want to play.
- Credit Card, the is probably the easiest way, but to do it you must have a credit card first.
- Western Union, you go to a Western Union office, pay there with cash and ask to transfer the money to the casino.

Reishi at LongevityHerbs.com
The Chinese have been well known for their traditional medicine. They have many herbs that can be used as a cure for diseases. The most famous herbs probably is called "ginseng", which is believed can prolong our life. Ginseng is not the only popular herbs the Chinese have, there is another herb which is known as Red Reishi. Reishi is a herbal mushroom known to have miraculous health benefits. It has been used in Japan and China for over 2000 years and thus making it the oldest known mushroom to have been used as medicine. But for a long time it has been used only for royalty, and anyone outside the royalty was forbidden to use it. Reishi has been revered as nature's rarest most precious herb. In the the oldest and most famous medical text on Oriental herbal medicine, Red Reishi is ranked as the number one herb, ahead of ginseng, because of its following qualities:
- It doesn't contain toxic and can be taken daily without producing side-effects.
- If it is taken regularly, it can restore the body to its natural state, thus all organs can function normally.
- Regulates and fine tunes the immune system.
- Reishi has anti-inflammatory properties which allow it to positively affect the respiratory system.
- It is great for battling allergies or bronchitis, and it can reduce the blood pressure issues related to hypertension.
- Much attention is paid to reishi’s high concentration of polysaccharides, which are linked to aiding cancer remission; acting as hypoglycemic agents; and strengthening the immune system.
- Reishi also scavenges free radicals, which retard aging and promote general healthfulness on a systemic, cellular level.
- Finally, it is known to protect the liver and help instill calmness.
However, most of the scientific research that has been conducted appears to strongly support red Reishi's role as a normalizing substance - a nutritional supplement that can yield medical benefits through its normalization and regulation of the body's organs and functions.

You have just taken your baby home from the hospital and it is one of the happiest days of your life. Well, not if you are having a difficult time comforting your crying baby. Many parents get overly concerned that there is something wrong with their baby because she is crying.
The truth is, babies cry! Even when your baby is perfectly happy, they may still cry. Babies are wonderfully complex human beings that we all want to make happy.
Babies cry sometimes because they want food, need a diaper, just want to be held, and sometimes they cry for no reason at all. That is the difficult part for many new parents. As a parent, you automatically want your child to feel better and stop crying.
Here are a few helpful hints:
1. Relax - Your baby will be able to sense that you are stressed. Learn to relax even when she is screaming. Your ability to relax will be passed on to her. She will feel your body relax.
2. Necessities - Make sure all her essential needs have been met. Even if she was just fed, she might still be hungry. Don't deny a baby food, she knows when she needs more! If she is hungry, feed her again. It is ok to feed her again; babies go through periods of growth spurts when they may eat every hour, especially if they are breastfed.
3. Dad - If mom has been trying to calm baby for awhile and it is not working, let dad have a go at it. Sometimes, the deep soothing voice of a father can get a baby right out of her crying spell.
4. Vacuum - Yep, vacuum. The loud constant sound of a vacuum is actually very soothing to a baby. At first, it may startle her, but the continuous sound will quickly send her off to la la land.
5. Rocking - An old-fashioned rocking chair works wonders for an upset baby. Just give her a few minutes to settle into the motion and she may be asleep before you know it.
6. Let her be - This is a really hard one for new parents. Sometimes your baby just does not want to be held. Your rocking, swaying, and talking could actually be making her more upset. Try setting her down in her crib. Give her a few minutes and see if she isn't a little happier.
7. Relax Again - It cannot be stressed enough that your baby knows what you are feeling. She can sense that your heart rate is up and that you are feeling overwhelmed. Take a few deep breaths and try to get your blood pressure down.
Getting a crying baby to stop crying does not have to be your goal of parenting. Yes, there are times that your child will be crying for a reason. More often, though, she will be crying because of gas, over stimulation, or no reason at all. Try the above techniques and see if they help you through your baby's next crying spell.

10 Tips On Finding A Name For Your Baby
Having a new baby means a lot of preparation. Taking child birth classes, preparing the nursery, picking cloths, changing the arrangement of the whole house and of course coming up with the right name for your child. This might not be an easy assignment. Many different options and opinions, many different reasons for naming them one way or another. So how do you decide?? Here are ten tips to guide you along the way, and help you make the right choice.
1. Start off with making a list. This list will consist of ideas you like, and also suggestions made by others (family members, friends etc.). It is important to keep an open mind while making this list and not reject any name without a second thought. Even if you don’t have a warm feeling for one name, and are not seriously considering using it, just having this name on your list might help you come up with new ideas – perhaps you will come up with a nice baby name that sounds similar, maybe you will like that name with a different spelling, and maybe you would like this name when it is combined with the right middle name. Your list should be updated all the time, whenever a new possibility comes to mind.
2. Divide your list into categories: why is this specific name on your list? Is it there to honor a family member? Is it a name that has a nice sound and good feel to it? Is it a popular name? Is it an original name you came up with? Is it a name which bares great meaning to you or to your culture? It is important to realize there are many different reasons for choosing one name over the other, and with time you may find out some reasons are more important to you than others. When having a categorized list, you might realize some of your favorite names fall into the same category – maybe it is time to follow this direction and think of more names in that category.
Some of these categories are now discussed:
3. Honoring family members - naming your baby after a relative.
It is important that you don’t feel obliged to stick with any family tradition when choosing the right name for your baby. If you really like a certain baby name, use it. However, honoring a loved family member by passing on his/her name to your child might be a great way of showing your respect and appreciation. You should consult other family members, brothers and cousins, to hear how they feel about it. This will also help avoid a problematic situation in case any of them planned to use the same name, which might be a potential conflict.
4. Popular names – a great way to avoid wrong decisions?
The answer is yes. If you happen to like a certain name which is also very popular, you can be pretty sure this name will not cause trouble for your child in the future. A few factors to be taken into consideration:
A popular name means others will use this name with ease and comfort, Also, there will be no problem in finding personalized gifts (t shirts, hats etc.) for your child. They will never have to explain or spell out their name, and it will ease their way to social acceptance.
The main disadvantage of choosing a common name for your child, is they will find themselves surrounded by more people who carry the same name. This might cause confusion, and the use of last names or nicknames will be required in order to distinguish them (a subject discussed later).
5. Choosing an original and unique name
Today more than ever, everyone needs to feel they are not just one of many.
Having a unique name causes one to feel special, unordinary. Whenever they introduce themselves their name becomes a cause of interest. However, this should be done with caution, and with the future of your child on mind. Many children are picked upon because of their strange sounding names. Make sure the name you choose is relatively easy to pronounce and read. Avoid names which might result in embarrassing nicknames.
6. Think about nick names.
Often the name you originally gave your child will be altered and shortened by his friends, and even family. Andrew might turn into Andy, Jennifer could be known as Jen. You should consider whether or not you like these nicknames, since they have a better chance of sticking with your child through out their life.
7. Consider the middle and last name as well
Choosing a first name is one thing. But a nice first name which is easy to pronounce and blends well with the middle/last name might be harder to find.
If you have a very original idea but are afraid your child might suffer baring it as a first name – why not use it for a middle name? The combination of the three names should be considered. Can you pronounce them easily? Are the three names somehow connected? It might not be a wise idea to give your child a first name originating in Greek with a middle name originating in Hebrew and an all American last name. Also consider the initials, and make sure they don’t spell out anything embarrassing.
8. Avoid names that remind you of people you genuinely dislike
It might be a wonderful name. But do you really want to be reminded of someone you don't care for when you hear your own child's name? Even if it is the perfect name, think twice. You might consider altering the name a little, with a different pronunciation or spelling. This might solve your conflict.
9. It is a good idea to use the internet as a source of ideas for baby names.
The site http://www.babyhold.com/ contains many tools that will assist you in choosing the right name for your baby. http://www.babyhold.com/ lists the most popular baby names by year, and also offers many ideas for unique baby names, baby names from different origins, baby names by country ( i.e American baby names, Italian baby names etc) and many baby names lists organized by category. You can also try the baby name list tool, offering a different short baby names list each time, for you to get ideas and inspiration.
10. Go with your heart.
Hearing what others think, taking advice and ideas from others is okay. But if you feel strongly about a name even though others seem to dislike it, use it anyway. After all it is your own personal decision, and if no one convinced you otherwise, it means you should go with it. Good luck!

Do you have a laptop, and it is not using the most common operating system? Instead it is using an operating system which is named after a type of tiger, and you are having a headache to find games for your not-so-common laptop? Trust me I know the feeling. But lucky for you, now you don't have to search the whole internet to find mac games.
The site offers you free mac games and also mac software which is either freeware or shareware. If you hurry and go to the site now or between June 25 - July 1 you will be able to download free web games for your Mac. New games are available now at the site, among them are Mac Mahjong, Risc-like games, Soccer games, Solitaire, Virtual Villagers, Pool Games Mac, Androkids and Septavo. On the free games and software section you can download Free Games Part I & V, Free Software Part II-III, Free Board Games Part V, Nervous Breakdown, Video Poker and even Flash Games.
The site also featured some interesting links. Take the "Baby Ray Ray's Parade" for example. The rule of the game is very simple, you only need to make all Rays standing up. Upon completion you will be able to move on to the next level. There are also featured links for Disco Bowling, Tomodachi, Jewel Thief and etc. You can also get your link to be featured there. Now to do this you can choose from two options, to buy a feature listing or if that is too expensive then you can buy a text link ads. If you buy a feature listing, all you need to do then is to email a graphic (.jpg) to go with your listing. Then you will receive a featured listing, graphic and a short blurb and text link. Your feature listing will be featured for one whole week on the front page of Mac Games and More, from Sunday to Sunday. Furthermore you will have a permanent listing in the archives. But remember to be featured on this site, your game or software must be related (or at least fairly relevant) to the Macintosh community.

Baby Bath Tub - A Necessity Or A Luxury?
Deciding to buy a baby bath tub may be as easy as a picking out cute little baby booties, or as hard as choosing the right name for your baby. With prices on some infant bath tubs as high as 30 and 40 dollars; many may wonder if having one is really a necessity, or just an expensive baby luxury.
Well consider this… The US Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that dozens of children drown each year. Two-thirds of these accidents happened in the home in bath tubs. While the majority of these drownings took place when the child was left unattended, a few incidences occurred while a parent was trying to give their baby a bath in an adult-sized tub and the child just simply slipped away.
For safety reasons, baby bath tubs are clearly a necessity, especially during those first few months when an infant cannot sit up or provide their own support.
Many of these specialized baby tubs are designed with slings or hammocks that will hold a newborn securely in place. Others have a foam grip inside that will prevent slipping. All of them are small enough to fit inside a regular bath tub which gives the parent the convenience of bathing their baby in an environment that is water-friendly and easy to keep clean.
But make sure you do some research and read product reviews on the various baby bath tubs on the market before you fork over your hard earned cash. A tub that is perfect for one baby may be a complete disaster for another. A Soothing Spa and Shower Baby Bath Tub may sound like a wonderful thing, but if you later find out that the sprayer is too difficult to use you may end up feeling ripped off. That’s why it is always best to find out what other parents have to say before you buy.
Lastly, if you are giving your baby a bath for the very first time, consult your pediatrician or get some information online on how to do it right. Experts say you should not immerse a baby in bath water before the umbilical cord has fallen off or the circumcision has healed. Sponge baths are the only way to go in the first few weeks. You should also line up all of your baby bath items before you start the bath.
More importantly, NEVER EVER leave a baby unattended in a bath tub! If you have to leave the room, take your baby with you.

Top Ten Tips To Get Your Baby Sleeping Better
Having a new baby is an incredibly exciting time, but it can also be filled with a great deal of anxiety. One major source of that anxiety is if you have a baby who isn’t sleeping well. Sleep deprivation will quickly wear you down, and your baby will be exhausted and irritable as well. When this pattern goes on for months, a once happy little family can rapidly turn into a tired and cranky crowd.
Much of this angst can be eliminated by helping your baby learn to sleep independently. A baby who sleeps who sleeps independently is usually a baby who sleeps through the night and takes nice, long naps on a consistent basis. Enabling your baby to learn how to sleep better should be a simple and gentle process, and most often your baby even have to shed a tear. This article will provide you with some important tips from the baby sleep book, Sleep Baby Sleep, and will help get you started on your way to having a better sleeping baby and a well-rested house.
#1 Establish a Consistent Nighttime Routine
One important aspect to getting your baby to sleep through the night is to have a consistent bedtime ritual. A solid evening routine will help your child understand that it is time for sleep when the routine is complete. A typical schedule might include a bath, some quiet time, a final feeding, and then a good-night kiss. Though your particular routine may vary, it is important make sure you have some kind of consistency at bedtime.
#2 Help your Baby Learn how to Fall Asleep Independently
Each time your baby is ready to sleep, no matter what time of day or night it is, you have a brand new opportunity to help your baby learn how to fall asleep without your help. If you try your hardest to seize each of these opportunities, your baby will be sleeping through the night sooner than you can believe. Keep in mind though that this is a process, and not an overnight miracle. Be consistent in your efforts and you will quickly teach your baby how to fall asleep without your help.
#3 Put your Baby to Sleep Awake
If you get only one idea from this article, it’s that you need to try to put your baby to sleep while he is still awake. In other words, try to avoid having your baby fall asleep before you put him down. Be sure that your routine includes putting your baby in the crib or bassinet before she is asleep. If you put your baby to bed awake, she will more readily learn how to fall asleep without your help and your baby will sleep much better.
#4 Establish a Daytime Nap Routine
Sometimes figuring out a good daytime routine can be even more challenging than the one at bedtime. Out of sheer exhaustion and the desire to get a few minutes to yourself, you might be inclined to do absolutely anything to get your baby down for a nap. The problem with this is that your baby will begin to need that particular method in order to nap (for example, driving around, rocking, nursing, etc). You won’t be happy if your baby can only take a nap in the car, or nap only if you lie down beside her, or only if you rock her to sleep. Instead, try to get your baby napping by falling asleep alone, and you’re likely to wind up with a great little sleeper on your hands.
#5 The Family Bed – should you or shouldn’t you?
A family bed is not a bad thing, and many families the world over would have it no other way. If it’s something you want and have planned for, then by all means do it! On the other hand, if you have wound up with a family bed only because your baby cannot fall asleep any other way, then it might time to rethink your situation. A family bed could last for years, and if unwanted, often results in frustration and resentment and chronic sleep deprivation.
#6 Waking up Throughout the Night
Most, if not all, babies wake up several times throughout the night. Even a baby who is already sleeping through the night wakes up numerous times during the night. The key is that if your baby knows know how to fall back to sleep on his own, he won’t need you to put him back to sleep. So, don’t rush in as soon as your baby wakes up in the middle of the night. Instead, give it some time and you might be pleasantly surprised to find that your baby falls back to sleep on his own.
#7 Getting Baby on a Schedule
Most people thrive on some sort of a schedule, and babies are no different. Your child is likely to function much better if he becomes familiar with the same events that happen throughout the day. If you get your baby on a schedule with a regular agenda, she will quickly figure out when it is time for sleep and will fall asleep much easier. Keep in mind though that everyone needs a little flexibility built into their life, so make sure that you are not too inflexible with your baby’s daily routine.
#8 Avoid using Aids to Help your Baby Sleep
Many exhausted parents resort to external aids to get their babies sleeping (for example, constantly using a pacifier, driving your baby around, and rocking or nursing your baby to sleep). Though your baby might initially fall asleep sleep quicker with these external aids, you are ultimately making your job much more difficult. The problem is that it helps you avoid teaching your baby how to fall asleep alone. Instead, take the time to get your baby falling asleep without any help, and he will fall asleep faster and sleep better.
#9 Be Consistent
The more regular you are in how you put your baby to sleep, the quicker and easier it will be for your child to learn how to sleep independently. No matter how tired you are, or how much you might be dreading the night ahead, a consistent effort will pay off quickly. Be patient with yourself, as it is not always easy to keep with your plan when you are intensely sleep deprived. Just be as consistent as possible, and you will see results.
#10 Take Time for Yourself
It’s so easy to forget about yourself when you have a new baby. But playing the parent role 24/7, and having no time of your own could cause you to grow resentful and feel deprived. Instead, make a conscious effort to ensure that you get some time for yourself. You’ll feel rejuvenated, happier, and you’ll have more energy to devote to your family. You can and will be an amazing parent even though you get a little bit of downtime, and there’s no better time to do it than when your baby is sleeping soundly. Enabling your baby to sleep independently is truly a priceless gift that you’ll give to everyone under your roof. Your baby will be much happier if he is better rested, and so will you!
